NBA Schedule Release 2026-27: Dates, Odds and Opening Night

The NBA 2026-27 schedule is out. Opening night 20 October, the five Christmas games, and what the title odds make of them. Bet the NBA with Bitcoin or USDT.

The NBA has released its 2026-27 schedule, and the league did something worth noticing with it. The two shortest title prices on the board have been put against each other on opening night.
Here are the dates that matter, the games the league chose to showcase, and what the futures market makes of the teams it picked. If you only want one line: the season starts on 20 October 2026.
When does the 2026-27 NBA season start
Opening night is Tuesday 20 October 2026, with a triple-header:
Boston at Detroit, 3pm ET
Philadelphia at New York, 7pm ET
Oklahoma City at San Antonio, 9:30pm ET
That last one is the tell. Oklahoma City and San Antonio are the two shortest prices in the entire championship market, and the league has scheduled them against each other in the final slot of the opening night. Whoever builds the schedule was not picking at random.
The Christmas Day slate
Five games on Friday 25 December 2026:
Spurs at Knicks, 12pm ET
Heat at Celtics, 2:30pm ET
76ers at Lakers, 5pm ET
Thunder at Timberwolves, 8pm ET
Nuggets at Warriors, 10:30pm ET
Again the pattern holds. The Christmas window opens with the second favourite visiting the third favourite, and the 8pm slot is the outright favourite on the road.
The other dates worth writing down
Paris game: 14 January 2027, Spurs against Pelicans
Manchester game: 17 January 2027, Spurs against Pelicans again
Trade deadline: 11 February 2027
All-Star weekend: 19 to 21 February 2027, in Phoenix
The regular season runs 82 games per team, which is the number that makes basketball futures behave the way they do. A long season means the standings usually sort themselves out honestly, and it is the postseason that introduces the noise.
What the market makes of those choices
Here is the top of the championship board, read off our own NBA outrights this week, in decimal odds with the probability each price implies.
Oklahoma City Thunder 3.30, implying 30.3%
San Antonio Spurs 3.60, implying 27.8%
New York Knicks 10.00, implying 10.0%
Boston Celtics 15.00, implying 6.7%
Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves 23.00, implying 4.3% each
Detroit Pistons 26.00, implying 3.8%
Two teams account for 58.1% of the title market between them before the other 28 clubs are counted. That is an unusually top-heavy board for a league with thirty teams in it, and it explains the scheduling. A season with two clear favourites gives the league an obvious marquee fixture, and it has used it twice already.
Futures are the most expensive way to have an opinion
Worth understanding before you take a long price that looks generous.
Add up the eight shortest championship prices and you get 91.6%. That sounds fine until you remember there are 22 more teams still to add. By the time the full board is counted, a championship market comfortably clears 100%, and everything above 100% is the bookmaker's margin.
The MVP market makes it plainer because the names run out faster. Nine players are priced at Wembanyama 3.00, Gilgeous-Alexander 5.00, Doncic and Jokic 7.00, Antetokounmpo 11.00, Edwards and Tatum 16.00, Cunningham 26.00 and Brunson 31.00. Those nine alone already total 110.6%, and the market does not stop at nine.
Compare that with a single game. A regular season moneyline on our board runs around 105%, so five points. A futures market is several times more expensive, because thirty or forty separate prices give the margin thirty or forty places to sit. None of that makes futures a bad bet. It makes them a bet you should know the price of.
Our MLB odds page runs the same comparison on baseball, where the World Series market prices at 130% against about 105% for a single game.
Reading a long price back honestly
Jalen Brunson at 31.00 for MVP looks like a lottery ticket, and in one sense it is. It implies 3.2% before margin comes out, so roughly one chance in thirty.
But strip the margin and it is thinner still. In a market already totalling 110.6% from nine names, every individual probability is inflated by the same overround, so Brunson's real number is nearer 2.9%. That is the difference between a long shot and a longer one, and it is the sort of gap that only shows up if you do the arithmetic.
The same works upward. Oklahoma City at 3.30 reads as 30.3%, but in a book that will finish well past 100%, the honest figure is lower. Short prices are not safe prices. They are just short.
NBA betting with Bitcoin
A championship future placed in October settles in June. That is eight months of holding two positions at once, the bet and the currency it was funded with, and it is the single biggest practical difference between betting a future and betting a game.
A moneyline settles in three hours, so the coin barely has time to move and it makes almost no difference which one you used. A title future is a different proposition. If Bitcoin moves 30% between October and June, your stake was worth something quite different from what you thought you were risking, in either direction.
That is a real argument for funding long-dated bets in USDT or USDC. A stablecoin means the only thing you are exposed to over those eight months is the bet itself. If you would rather hold Bitcoin and take the currency movement alongside the result, that is a legitimate choice too, just make it deliberately rather than by default.
Jacks Club takes BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, XRP, TRON, TON and SOL across the sportsbook, with no fiat option, so every bet is funded in crypto by design.
Common questions

How many games are in an NBA season? 82 per team in the regular season, before the play-in and the playoffs.
