NFL Betting with Bitcoin: Odds, Markets and the 2026 Season

How to bet the NFL with Bitcoin: the 52.4% you need at minus 110, why 3 and 7 are key numbers, and why futures belong in a stablecoin, not in BTC.

The 2026 NFL season kicks off on Wednesday 9 September, and if you plan to bet it from a crypto balance there are a handful of things worth settling before Week 1 rather than during it. Most guides on this subject spend their length explaining what Bitcoin is. This one assumes you already know, and spends it on the parts that actually change your results.
What changes when you bet the NFL with Bitcoin, and what does not
Two things change. Settlement is faster, because a crypto withdrawal does not wait on a banking cycle. And the money you are betting with is an asset that moves on its own, which matters enormously for anything that does not settle the same day.
Everything else is identical. The spread is the spread. The vig is the vig. Funding an account with Bitcoin does not buy you a better price on the Chiefs, and any site suggesting otherwise is selling something. The edge in NFL betting comes from the number you take, not the rail you funded with.
The 2026 season in dates
The regular season runs 18 weeks, with each team playing 17 games and taking one bye. Week 1 opens on 9 September 2026. The playoffs begin on 16 January 2027, and Super Bowl LXI is on 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the latest calendar date the league has ever scheduled the game.
That last date is the one to keep in mind. A Super Bowl future placed in August sits open for close to six months. We will come back to what that costs you.
For the full breakdown of the opening weekend and the preseason run in, see when the NFL season starts and our 2026 preseason guide.
Which coin to bet in
Jacks Club takes BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, XRP, TRON, TON and SOL. For a bet that settles in three hours, the choice barely matters. For a bet that settles in February, it is most of the decision.
Say you back a team at 12.00 to win the Super Bowl and stake the equivalent of 500 dollars in Bitcoin. You now hold two positions. One is the football bet. The other is a six month long position in Bitcoin that you did not consciously open. If the coin falls 30% while your team goes 14 and 3, your winning bet is worth considerably less than you thought you were risking. If it rises 30%, you got lucky on something you were not analysing.
Stablecoins remove the second position entirely. USDT and USDC hold their value against the dollar, so a futures ticket priced in them settles at the number you expected. Volatile coins are perfectly fine for same day betting, where the price barely moves between kickoff and the final whistle.
The rule that follows: bet in whatever you like on Sunday, but settle futures in stablecoins unless you actively want the coin exposure.
The point spread and the number that decides everything
Most NFL betting is spread betting. The favourite gives points, the underdog takes them, and both sides are usually priced at minus 110. That price is not decoration.
Minus 110 means you risk 110 to win 100. To break even you need to win 52.38% of your bets, not 50%. Over a full season at 5 bets a week for 18 weeks, that is 90 bets, and the difference between 50% and 52.4% is roughly two wins. Two results across an entire season is the whole margin between paying for the privilege and getting paid.
This is the single most useful number in football betting and almost nobody quotes it. If your handicapping is not clearing 52.4%, you are not beating the market, you are renting it.
Key numbers: why 3 and 7 cost more than they look
NFL scoring is lumpy. Field goals are worth three, touchdowns with the extra point are worth seven. Because of that, final margins cluster hard on 3 and 7, and to a lesser extent on 6, 10 and 14.
The practical consequence: moving a spread from 2.5 to 3.5 is worth far more than moving it from 5.5 to 6.5, even though both are a single point. Roughly one NFL game in ten finishes with a margin of exactly three. Buying off the 3, or getting a half point on the right side of it, is the most valuable half point on the board and it is priced accordingly.
When you see a line sitting stubbornly on 3 while the money comes in on the favourite, the price will move before the number does. That is why you sometimes see minus 3 at minus 120 instead of the line simply going to 3.5.
Moneylines, and when they beat the spread
The moneyline ignores the margin and asks only who wins. On a heavy favourite it prices badly, because you risk a great deal to win a little. On a close game it is often the better bet than the spread.
Read every moneyline back as a probability before you take it. A price of 2.50 implies 40%. A price of 1.40 implies 71.4%. Ask whether the team in front of you really wins seven times in ten, and if your honest answer is closer to six, you have found a bet on the other side. If your answer is eight, the price is fine and there is nothing to do.
Divide 100 by the decimal price and you have the implied probability. It takes three seconds and it is the only discipline that separates betting from guessing.
Totals, and the things that actually move them
The total is the combined score, and you bet over or under. Totals move on three things more than any other: weather, pace and injuries to skill positions.
Wind is the one people underrate. Heavy wind hurts the deep passing game and the kicking game at once, and it takes points off a total faster than rain does. Cold on its own is largely a myth. Wind above roughly 15 miles per hour is not.
Pace matters because a team that runs a lot of plays gives both offences more chances. A hurry up offence facing a slow, run heavy team produces fewer possessions than the raw talent suggests, and totals that ignore that are where the value sits.
Player props
Props are the fastest growing part of the NFL board: passing yards, rushing yards, receptions, touchdown scorers, longest completion. They carry a higher margin than sides and totals, which is the trade you accept for a market that is harder for the book to price precisely.
The most common mistake is treating an anytime touchdown scorer price as a prediction. A running back at 2.00 to score is a 50% shot by the price. Half the time he does not score, and that is not the market being wrong, that is the market being right about a coin flip.
Receptions props tend to be the most stable, because target share is the most repeatable statistic in the sport. Touchdown props are the least stable, because scoring is close to random within a red zone offence.
Season futures and the six month problem
Super Bowl winner, conference winner, division winner, win totals and player awards all open long before Week 1 and stay open deep into the season.
Two costs apply. The first is the margin: a futures market with 32 runners carries a much wider overround than a two way spread, because every price in the book adds to well over 100% before you have finished reading the list. The second is time. Your stake is locked up from August to February, and if it is denominated in a volatile coin, its value is moving the entire time.
Neither is a reason to avoid futures. Both are reasons to size them smaller than you would size a Sunday bet, and to price them in a stablecoin.
Parlays, told honestly
A parlay multiplies the odds of several bets together and pays out only if every leg wins. They are popular because a 12.00 payout from three bets you already liked feels like free money.
Here is the maths nobody puts in the marketing. Take three legs that are each a genuine coin flip. All three land 12.5% of the time. A standard three leg parlay pays 6 to 1, so 100 units staked returns 87.5 units on average. That is a 12.5% house edge. The same three bets placed singly at minus 110 carry a 4.55% edge. Parlaying them nearly triples what the market charges you, and every extra leg widens the gap again. By ten legs it is worse than any slot machine on the site.
Parlays are entertainment with a price attached, and that is a legitimate thing to buy. Just do not confuse them with a strategy for making money, because the arithmetic runs the other way.
Teasers, and the one that is actually defensible
A teaser lets you move the spread in your favour across two or more games in exchange for a shorter price. The classic is the six point two team teaser.
Teasers are worth something specific rather than generally: moving a favourite from minus 8.5 down through 7, 6 and 3, or an underdog from plus 1.5 up through 3 and 7, crosses both key numbers and is genuinely valuable. Moving a line from minus 12 to minus 6 crosses nothing that matters and is just a worse price. Same product, opposite value, depending entirely on which numbers you cross.
Live betting during a game
In play markets reprice every drive. They are the sharpest part of the board in one sense and the loosest in another: the model updates instantly on score, but it is slower to price things a viewer can see, like an offensive line that has lost two starters or a quarterback who is visibly hurt.
If you are watching the game rather than the scoreboard, that gap is the closest thing to an edge available to a recreational bettor. It is also the fastest way to overbet, because the market is always open and there is always another number.
What none of this changes
No staking plan beats a margin. Doubling after a loss ends at the table limit rather than in profit. Chasing Sunday's losses on the Monday night game is how a bad week becomes a bad month. The margin is fixed and visible in every price on the board, and the only two levers you control are which numbers you take and how much you risk on them.
Set the amount you are prepared to lose across a season before Week 1, and size individual bets as a fixed percentage of it. That is not exciting advice, but it is the only part of this that reliably works.
Betting the NFL at Jacks Club
The American football board carries the NFL through the regular season and into the playoffs, with spreads, moneylines, totals, player props and season futures. You can find it on the American football page, and the rest of the book on the sportsbook.
For a walk through the markets without the crypto angle, our NFL betting guide covers the same ground. If you follow the basketball season alongside it, the NBA betting guide applies the same approach to a very different scoring distribution. New accounts should read the current deposit bonus terms before funding, since wagering requirements differ by market type.
