Sweet Bonanza 1000 at a glance
Sweet Bonanza 1000 is the 2019 candy slot with the volume turned up. Pragmatic Play put it out in June 2024, and if you've played the original you'll know your way round in about three spins. The bombs are what changed. They used to top out at 100x. Now one can read 1,000x.
Everything else is familiar. Six reels, five rows, no paylines. A top prize of 25,000x your bet. An Ante Bet, plus two ways to buy your way into free spins (100x, or 500x for the Super version). On our tile the RTP reads 96.53%, which matches what Pragmatic publishes.
Eight of a kind, anywhere on the grid
Paylines don't exist here. You're after 8 or more of one symbol, scattered anywhere across the 30 squares. The more copies you get, the better it pays, with steps up at 8, 10 and 12.
Say nine matching symbols land. They pay, then they vanish, and everything above them drops. New symbols fall into the gaps from the top, and if those happen to complete another set of eight, you're paid again. The whole thing repeats until the board goes quiet, in the base game and in free spins.
Free spins and the candy bombs
It takes four lollipops to get in. Each set pays straight away (four are worth 3x your bet, five are worth 5x, all six pay 100x) and hands you 10 free spins, with 5 more for any 3 lollipops that turn up inside the round.
The bombs are the reason anyone plays this version. During free spins, bombs worth anything from 2x to 1,000x can land and sit there while the tumbles play out. When nothing else will tumble, the game totals every bomb on the board, and that total multiplies what the spin won. Add, not multiply: a 50x and a 25x give you 75x, sadly not 1,250x. And a bomb on a spin that won nothing is just decoration, however big the number on it.
Ante Bet or a feature buy?
There are two ways to pay for more action, and they work differently.
Ante Bet adds 25% to every spin and doubles your chance of triggering free spins naturally.
Buy Free Spins costs 100x your bet and starts the round straight away.
Super Free Spins cost 500x, and every multiplier in that round is worth at least 20x.
A buy doesn't change the maths in your favour. If it pays back at roughly the game's 96.53%, the 100x buy costs you about 3.5x your bet on average and the 500x one about 17x. The buys concentrate the game's swings into one round. They don't make it cheaper.
What changed from the original Sweet Bonanza
The original Sweet Bonanza from 2019 topped out at 100x bombs and a 21,175x win. Version 1000 multiplies the bomb ceiling by ten, nudges the max win up to 25,000x and bolts on the 500x Super buy. Pragmatic says the core game hasn't changed, and sitting down to play it, you'd agree. It feels like the same machine with a bigger top end.
Want even bigger bombs? Sweet Bonanza 2500 goes up to 2,500x, though the 25,000x cap stays put. And there's a dice version of this game with the same features, the same 96.53% on our tile and dice where the sweets used to be.
What 96.53% means for your balance
An RTP of 96.53% leaves a house edge of 3.47%, which is $3.47 for every $100 you spin through the game over the long run. Play 500 spins at $1 and the expected cost is about $17.35. Your actual result will land a long way from that in either direction, because most of this game's value sits in a feature you might not see for hundreds of spins.
Worth knowing: Pragmatic also supplies this game in lower builds, at 95.52% and 94.51%, and some casinos run those. Ours runs 96.53%, and the figure on the tile is the one you're playing. Our guide to RTP and house edge explains why that gap matters more than it looks.
Where the big wins come from
Pragmatic doesn't publish a volatility rating for Sweet Bonanza 1000, but the design tells you what to expect. The base game pays a steady trickle of small tumbles. The serious money needs free spins, bombs, and a win for those bombs to multiply, all at the same time. Long quiet stretches are normal. Pick a stake that lets you sit through a few of them.
More sweets to try
The whole family is in our Pragmatic Play section, along with the rest of the studio's slots. If you'd rather play something where the edge is far smaller, our in-house Blackjack returns 99.43%.
