Leagues Cup 2026: Standings, Results and Schedule
Every matchday 1 result, how the shootout points table works, the full schedule to 13 August, and how to bet the Leagues Cup with Bitcoin or a stablecoin.
Matchday 1 is complete. Eighteen matches across three days, two penalty shootouts, an all-time scoring record that changed hands twice in one night, and MLS clubs ahead on the head-to-head count going into matchday 2, which starts today.
Below is how the table works, where it stands, every result so far, and the full remaining schedule through 13 August. If you are new to the competition, read the table section first, because the Leagues Cup table does not work the way a league table works.
How the Leagues Cup table actually works
Thirty six clubs enter: all 18 from Liga MX and the 18 MLS clubs that made last season's playoffs. Every club plays three matches, every match is cross-league, and no club faces a team from its own league in the group phase. That is 54 matches feeding two entirely separate tables, one for MLS and one for Liga MX.
The scoring is where people get caught out. There are no draws. A match level after 90 minutes goes straight to a penalty shootout, and the points split like this:
Win in regulation: 3 points
Win on penalties: 2 points
Lose on penalties: 1 point
Lose in regulation: 0 points
Read that twice, because it has a consequence the table cannot show you. A club that was level at 90 minutes and lost the shootout still banks a point. Two clubs on the same total can have arrived there by completely different routes.
Matchday 1 produced a clean example. LAFC and Real Salt Lake both drew 1-1 and both went to penalties. LAFC have 2 points and Real Salt Lake have 1, and the only thing separating those two seasons so far is the outcome of a shootout that had no bearing on the 90 minutes either of them played.
The top four from each table go through. Quarter-final seeding is fixed and cross-league: MLS 1 plays Liga MX 4, MLS 2 plays Liga MX 3, and so on. No two clubs from the same league can meet before the semi-final.
One warning, because it affects anyone reading a table this week: the published tiebreakers are not consistent across sources. The competition's own guide lists goal difference first, then wins. Other summaries lead with regulation wins. Those orderings produce different results among the clubs tied on 3 points, so treat any early ordering as provisional.
Where the two tables stand after matchday 1
Every club has played once. Charlotte FC lead the MLS table and Toluca lead Liga MX, both on 3 points with a plus three goal difference, and both with the best possible opening result.
Behind them sit a crowd of clubs on 3 points separated only by goal difference, which is why the tiebreaker ambiguity above matters right now rather than later. LAFC are the only MLS club on 2, Real Salt Lake the only one on 1, and Tigres and Chivas occupy those two slots on the Liga MX side.
On the head-to-head count, MLS clubs won 10 of the 17 matches resolved at the time of writing and Liga MX 7. Both leagues took one of the two shootouts. Opening night alone split three apiece, so the gap opened up on the second and third days rather than the first. MLS clubs have won each of the last three editions.

Club America beat San Diego FC in Mexico City
The Portland Timbers v Puebla result was the last kickoff of matchday 1 and could not be reliably confirmed at the time of writing, so it is left out rather than guessed at. The Club America scoreline is the same: America led 3-0 at half-time and won, but the published final scores disagree with each other, so the margin is not stated here.
The matches that mattered most
Inter Miami 4-2 Atletico San Luis. San Luis led inside four minutes through David Rodriguez. Messi equalised on 13 and made it 3-1 on 32, and that second goal was his 14th in 12 Leagues Cup appearances, making him the competition's all-time leading scorer. Telasco Segovia and Micael got the others, Micael's deep into a seven-minute first-half stoppage. Noah Allen registered three assists. The match was suspended around the 67th minute for roughly half an hour for lightning.
LAFC 1-1 Chivas, LAFC through 5-4 on penalties. Denis Bouanga scored on 38, Roberto Alvarado replied on 42, and the shootout ran to a sixth round. Kevin Castaneda missed Chivas's first. Thomas Hasal saved from Luis Romo. Jude Terry, a 17-year-old homegrown midfielder, scored the one that ended it. Bouanga's goal was also his 14th in the competition, drawing him level with Messi hours after Messi had passed him.
Toluca 3-0 Seattle Sounders was the first Leagues Cup match ever played in Mexico, and the defending champions lost it. Federico Vinas scored on his Toluca debut.
Philadelphia 0-1 Cruz Azul was settled inside the opening five minutes by Jose Paradela. The Union started 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan alongside his brother Quinn, only the second time the two have started a match together.
Two absences that shape the rest of the tournament
Luis Suarez is serving a six-match Leagues Cup ban carried over from the brawl after the 2025 final. Six matches is longer than the entire group phase, so he is unavailable to Inter Miami for every match of this tournament including the final, should they reach it. That will not change.
Mateo Silvetti dislocated a shoulder after coming on against San Luis. It was put back in place in the dressing room and Miami's head coach would not commit either way on his availability. Treat him as uncertain rather than out.

Then the knockouts: quarter-finals 25 to 27 August, semi-finals 1 and 2 September, and the final plus a third-place match on 6 September. Knockout ties level after 90 minutes go straight to penalties, with no extra time.
The final's venue has still not been announced. The competition's own schedule release says knockout venue assignments will be communicated at a later date, and they have not been. Anyone telling you where the final is being played is guessing.
The draw is priced in a tournament that has no draws
This is the part almost nobody explains, and it is the most useful thing to understand before placing a Leagues Cup bet.
The three-way match market on our soccer board settles on the 90 minutes. So the draw is a live, priced, winning outcome even though the tournament itself will never record one. Real Salt Lake and Tigres finished 1-1 and went to penalties. Anyone holding the draw was paid. The shootout decided who advanced and how the points split, and did nothing at all to the 1x2 settlement.
A shootout is two separate events wearing one result. The bet ended at 90 minutes. The tournament kept going. If you are used to knockout football where a penalty win is simply a win, that is the assumption to unlearn.
What a three-way market costs you
Every price carries a margin and you can measure it yourself. Convert each price to its implied probability by dividing 1 by the decimal odds, then add the three together. A market with no margin totals 100 per cent. Ours do not, and neither does anyone's.
Measured across our own displayed prices, a Leagues Cup three-way market runs roughly 106.4 to 106.7 per cent. A two-way baseball moneyline on the same board runs 105.0 to 105.5 per cent. That gap is structural rather than accidental: a third outcome is a third place for the margin to sit.
The same effect appears a second way. A lopsided match costs more than a close one. A heavy favourite near 1.10 carried about 106.5 per cent, against about 106.4 per cent on a near coin toss. Short prices are not safe prices. They are just short, and they are often more expensive per unit of risk than the market that looks scarier.
None of that argues against betting the tournament. It argues for knowing what the ticket costs, and for checking the arithmetic on our board rather than believing this paragraph.
Leagues Cup betting with Bitcoin
The Leagues Cup has a shape that changes which coin makes sense, and it is worth a minute of thought rather than defaulting.
This tournament does not spread its matches out. It stacks 18 fixtures into three days, then does it again days later. Someone following a full matchday makes a lot of small movements rather than one large one, and a network fee is charged per movement rather than as a percentage of the amount. On a single outright ticket that is noise. Across a three-day slate of small stakes it is not, because you pay it every time regardless of size.
That is the argument for a stablecoin here and it is arithmetic rather than preference. USDT and USDC on a low-fee network cost meaningfully less per movement than Bitcoin, and this tournament asks for a lot of movements. There is a second reason: the group phase runs into September, so anyone holding an outright is holding it for a month, carrying two positions rather than one, and only one of them is the bet they meant to place. On a single match settling the same evening, none of this applies and any crypto works.

What to watch between now and the quarter-finals
Three things decide this group phase. Whether the shootout points quietly rearrange the top four, because a club that draws its way through on 4 or 5 points can finish above one that won once and lost twice. Inter Miami's schedule without Suarez, with Monterrey tomorrow and Leon on 12 August. And whether the fixtures being played in Mexico this month produce more results like Toluca's, because a Liga MX club at home in this tournament is a different proposition from the same club on the road.
