WNBA MVP Odds 2026: A'ja Wilson and the Championship Race

WNBA MVP odds and championship odds for 2026, with the implied probabilities behind them and the vote timing that decides whether a late run can win it.

A'ja Wilson has been favourite for WNBA MVP since before the season started and she has only shortened. In mid August the market had her between -800 and -600, which is somewhere around 86 to 89 percent. Everyone else is fighting for the other tenth.
Here is what the prices actually say, what the numbers behind them say, and the one piece of timing that decides whether a late run can still win this award.
WNBA MVP odds, mid August 2026
Market prices as of 13 August. Books disagreed most on second place, so where the spread was wide both ends are shown.
A'ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces: -800 to -600
Olivia Miles, Minnesota Lynx: +600 to +1000
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever: +2000 to +2200
Paige Bueckers, Dallas Wings: +3500
Breanna Stewart, New York Liberty: +10000
Kelsey Mitchell, Indiana Fever: +10000
Jackie Young, Las Vegas Aces: +25000
Allisha Gray, Atlanta Dream: +25000
Turn those into probabilities and the shape is stark. -800 is 88.9 percent. +1000 is 9.1 percent. +2000 is 4.8 percent. Add the whole board together and it comes to roughly 108.3 percent.
That extra 8.3 points is the margin, and it is worth comparing to what a normal game costs. A WNBA moneyline on our own board runs about 105 to 106.5 percent across the two sides. A futures market with eight or more runners runs 108 and up. The longer the market, the more you pay to enter it. That is true everywhere and it is truest on award markets, where the book has to price a dozen names and only one of them can be right.
The one thing that decides this award, and almost nobody says it
WNBA MVP is voted by a national panel of writers and broadcasters. They rank a top five, scored 10, 7, 5, 3 and 1 points. In 2025 there were 72 voters, and Wilson took 51 of the first place votes.
The part that matters if you are betting it: ballots cover the regular season only, and they are cast as soon as the regular season ends. The winner is then revealed during the playoffs. In 2025 the MVP was announced on 21 September, the same day the semifinals started.
So a deep playoff run cannot win anybody this award. A Finals MVP performance is irrelevant to it. The regular season ends on 24 September, the playoffs begin on 27 September, and everything that decides the vote happens before the first tip of the postseason.
There is a wrinkle in the run-in too. The league breaks from 4 to 13 September for the FIBA World Cup in Germany, so the remaining games are squeezed into two windows: late August through 3 September, and 17 to 24 September. Roughly eight to eleven games each for the contenders, in two clumps with a ten day dead zone in between.
Why Wilson is that short
26.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 blocks a game across 33 games. She leads the league in scoring, in blocks with 67, in win shares and in player efficiency rating at 31.8. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to 6,000 career points, in 278 games.
She already has four MVPs, more than anyone who has played this game, and she has won the last two. A fifth would extend a record she already owns outright.
The one thing arguing against her is the standings. Las Vegas are 24-12 and third, five games behind Minnesota. Voters do weigh team record, which is exactly the gap Olivia Miles is standing in.
The case for the rookie
Olivia Miles was the second overall pick and Minnesota are 29-7, the best record in the league and the first team to clinch. She is putting up around 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists on roughly 50 percent shooting, with three straight Rookie of the Month awards.
She also did the thing that moves a futures price. On 8 August Minnesota beat Las Vegas with Miles scoring 26 and adding 7 assists while Wilson went 5 of 17 for 16 points. Head to head, on the day, in front of the people who vote.
And she carried the Lynx through the stretch when Napheesa Collier was out after ankle surgery. Collier, who finished second in last year's MVP vote, has played just nine games this season and is not a factor in this one.
No rookie has ever won WNBA MVP. That is most of why she is +600 to +1000 instead of shorter.
What happened to Caitlin Clark's price
This is the most interesting line on the board. Clark opened the season at +250, effectively co-favourite with Wilson at +225. The market thought 2026 was a two horse race.
She is now +2000 to +2200. Her implied chance has gone from about 29 percent to under 5 percent, a sixfold drop, and it happened during a stretch when she was playing well, not badly.
Three things did it, and none of them is about her form:
Games played. 30, against 33 for Wilson, Bueckers and Gray, and 35 for Kelsey Mitchell. Missed time is the quietest MVP killer there is.
Efficiency. 45.0 percent from the field and 35.7 from three is the weakest line in the top tier. Bueckers is at 50.7 and 38.4, Miles around 50 and 38.
She is not her own team's leading scorer. Kelsey Mitchell is averaging 24.2 to Clark's 21.9.
None of that makes her a bad player, and 8.3 assists a game leads the league. It makes her a bad price at +250, which is what the market has spent four months correcting. On 16 August she went for 26 points and 9 assists and hit the free throws that beat Atlanta in overtime. It has not moved her price, and if a game like that does not, the drift is telling you the vote is already elsewhere.
The longest price with the best story
Kelsey Mitchell is +10000, a shade under 1 percent. She is averaging 24.2 points, second in the league, on 50.3 percent shooting and 43.7 from three. And on 16 August she extended a run of 19 consecutive 20 point games, which is a WNBA single season record. She broke Wilson's mark of 15 from 2024.
The market's verdict on that is 1 percent. Read plainly, it says volume scoring on the fourth placed team does not win MVP, no matter what record it sets along the way. Whether you think that is right is the bet. It is not a value pick, but it is the clearest example on this board of what the voting panel is actually rewarding, and what it is not.
WNBA championship odds, 17 August
Minnesota Lynx: -105 (51.2 percent)
Las Vegas Aces: +450 (18.2)
Atlanta Dream: +900 (10.0)
Indiana Fever: +700 to +950 (9.5 to 12.5)
Golden State Valkyries: +900 (10.0)
New York Liberty: +1300 (7.1)
Dallas Wings: +3300 (2.9)
Washington Mystics: +6000 (1.6)
Total: about 111 percent once the longshots are included. Even more margin than the MVP market, for the same reason.
Two things worth pulling out. Minnesota are odds on to win a knockout tournament they have to get through three rounds of, which is a strong statement about a 29-7 team but still a coin flip priced as a favourite. And Indiana ranges from +700 to +950 depending where you look. That is a three point swing in implied probability on the same team on the same day, and a spread that wide means the market has not settled on them.
The Lynx were not the preseason pick. New York were the short price at tip off and have drifted to +1300 through injuries, while Minnesota came from +800 and took over as favourite in late June.
How the standings look going in
The WNBA seeds its top eight teams by overall record, not by conference, so the single table is the one that matters. After the games of 16 August:
1. Minnesota Lynx 29-7 (clinched)
2. Golden State Valkyries 24-9
3. Las Vegas Aces 24-12 (clinched)
4. Indiana Fever 23-12
5. Atlanta Dream 21-13
6. New York Liberty 22-14
7. Washington Mystics 20-14
8. Dallas Wings 20-15
Portland Fire are ninth at 15-20 and five games off the last place, which is the whole of the outside chance. Seattle are already eliminated.
Indiana's overtime win in Atlanta on 16 August was worth more than one game in the table. It pushed them 1.5 games clear of the Dream, and they hold the tiebreaker, which currently means first round home court. Round one is best of three, so home court in that series is one of the more valuable things available in late September.
Common questions
When is the 2026 WNBA MVP announced? During the playoffs, most likely in early to mid October. In 2025 it came on 21 September, the day the semifinals began. The league does not announce the award before the postseason starts.
Can playoff performance win the MVP? No. The vote covers the regular season only and ballots are cast once it ends on 24 September. Everything after that is Finals MVP, which is a separate award.
Has a rookie ever won WNBA MVP? No. That is a large part of why Olivia Miles is priced where she is despite leading the best team in the league.
How many teams make the WNBA playoffs? Eight, seeded one to eight by overall record with no conference split. Round one is best of three, the semifinals are best of five and the Finals are best of seven.
Why do futures markets cost more than game lines? Because there are more outcomes to price. A two way game line totals about 105 to 106.5 percent. An eight runner futures market totals 108 to 112. The extra is margin, and you pay it whether you win or lose.
Do MVP odds change after the season ends? They usually come off the board once ballots are in, because at that point the result exists and nobody has announced it yet. If you want a position on this award, the regular season is the window.
Where to bet it
Jacks Club prices the WNBA on the basketball board alongside the NBA, with moneylines, spreads, totals and player props on every game plus outright markets. Deposits and withdrawals are in Bitcoin, USDT, USDC or any of the other coins the site takes, which matters more than usual on a futures ticket: a bet placed in August does not settle until October, and the coin you bought it with will not be worth the same by then. Stablecoins remove that second bet you did not mean to make.
The WNBA betting guide covers the markets in more depth, the NBA guide does the same for the men's game, and the full sportsbook runs 36 sports.
Odds quoted are market prices at the time of writing, MVP as of 13 August 2026 and championship as of 17 August 2026. Award markets move on injuries and on single games, so check the current board before backing anything here.
