What Is NGR? Net Gaming Revenue Explained for Affiliates

NGR meaning in plain terms: how net gaming revenue differs from GGR and turnover, what gets deducted, and a worked example of how it becomes commission.

NGR stands for net gaming revenue. In plain terms it's what a casino keeps from a group of players after their winnings are paid and after the costs of serving them come off. If you're a casino affiliate on a revenue share deal, it's the number your commission is worked out from.
It's also an easy number to misread, usually by treating it as the amount their players deposited or wagered. Here's what goes into it, what comes out, and how it turns into money in your account.
Turnover, GGR and NGR are three different numbers
Start with turnover, everything your players wager. It's a big, flattering figure, and it isn't revenue at all, because most of it comes straight back as winnings.
Take the winnings away and you have GGR, gross gaming revenue. On a game with a 2% house edge, a player who wagers $10,000 over a month leaves the casino with about $200 of GGR on average, though any single month can land well above or below that.
Then the casino's costs for those players come off, and what's left is NGR. That's the pot a revenue share percentage is applied to.
What gets deducted
Every program defines NGR in its terms, and the list of deductions is where programs differ most. In the Jacks Club affiliate terms, last updated on 12 September 2026, NGR is wagers less winnings, less the costs the company carries for those players:
bonuses and promotional credits;
third-party game provider fees;
payment provider fees on deposits and withdrawals;
costs from fraud or reversed transactions.
Withdrawal fees charged to players and balance deductions are added back in, and the whole thing is converted to US dollars and totted up per calendar month. If you're comparing programs, read this clause first. Two programs can both say 30% and pay very different amounts because one deducts far more before the percentage is applied.
A worked example
These numbers are made up to show the mechanics, not to predict anyone's month. Say your players wager $250,000 in September and the house result on that play comes to $6,000. Bonuses they received add up to $1,500, and provider and payment fees come to $1,000.
GGR: $6,000.
NGR: $6,000 minus $1,500 minus $1,000, so $3,500.
Commission at 25%: $875.
Notice how far the $250,000 of turnover is from the $875 at the end. That gap is normal, and it's why commission quoted as a share of turnover would be a very different deal.
Why NGR can go negative
If one of your players has a big month and wins more than your group loses, NGR for that month is below zero. Many programs deal with that through negative carryover, and ours does too: a losing month comes off your balance and is recovered from the commission of the months that follow.
One detail worth knowing. In our program your RevShare tier for a month depends only on that month's NGR, so a negative month you're still paying back doesn't pull you down a tier.
How NGR sets your tier
Jacks Club pays 25% of NGR at Bronze, below $5,000 a month. Silver pays 30% from $5,000, Gold 35% from $10,000, Platinum 40% from $25,000 and Diamond 50% from $50,000. New affiliates get 50% for their first two months whatever their volume.
The crypto casino affiliate program guide covers payouts, tracking and hybrid deals, and you can apply on the Jacks Club affiliate program page.
Common questions
What does NGR stand for?
Net gaming revenue: what a casino keeps from a set of players after paying their winnings and taking off the costs of serving them, such as bonuses and fees.
What is the difference between GGR and NGR?
GGR is wagers minus winnings. NGR goes a step further and also takes off costs like bonuses, game provider fees and payment fees, so it's always the smaller figure in a normal month.
Can NGR be negative?
Yes, when players win more in a month than they lose. Under negative carryover, that month's shortfall is recovered from later commission.
How is NGR calculated at Jacks Club?
Wagers less winnings, less bonuses, game provider fees, payment fees and fraud costs, with player withdrawal fees and balance deductions added back, in US dollars per calendar month.
