The practical difference is cost and speed:
Tron blocks are produced roughly every three seconds. Fees on the network are low and fairly stable, which is why TRC-20 became the default rail for moving Tether around.
Ethereum blocks land roughly every twelve seconds, and the fee is priced by demand for block space rather than fixed. When the network is quiet it is cheap. When it is busy, a routine transfer can cost more than a small deposit is worth.
Neither is better in the abstract. If you already hold your Tether on Ethereum, bridging it to Tron to save a fee can cost more than the fee did. Check what the transfer will actually cost you at the moment you send it, on the chain your coins are already sitting on, and compare that with the size of the deposit. A two dollar fee on a twenty dollar deposit is ten percent gone before you have placed a bet.
Sending on the wrong network
